Spring weather has made an early arrival here in Maine and Easter is less than a couple weeks away. This might be our first snow free egg hunt.
Egg decorating has always been one of my favorite crafts, but I'm not a fan of blowing out eggs. I planned ahead and I ordered a dozen wooden eggs. The online product reviews indicated that they're mainly used as decoys for chicken coops. If they trick hens they're good enough for me.
I grabbed my little collection of Golden Books for inspiration, pulled out my Liquitex acrylic paints, brushes, water and paper towel and set to work. The heft of the wooden eggs felt good in my hand and the best part was I didn't have to worry about cracking them. The surface also allowed me to easily wipe away wet paint when I goofed.
Here's a second video with a sweet little duckling, this little fellow was quicker and easier to paint. He's also very close to the ducks that will appear in my next fabric line.
