The line has been shipping into stores and should be available at your local quilt shop. Alewives fabrics has graciously offered to host a fabric launch party on May 6th 2-4 pm. Alewives is a spectacular shop in a beautiful scenic spot, if you haven't visited please save the date and meet me there. If you can't make it in person you can always order from them online, they send beautiful happy mail packages.
I painted the animals and vignettes for this line a couple summers ago. I set up an impromptu studio at camp Canaras in upstate NY. My son was working there for the summer and we were his guests for the week. It was a unique opportunity to paint without worrying about fixing meals or entertaining my crew. The kitchen staff fed my family delicious meals and there was endless outdoor fun to keep everyone happily entertained.
Country Days is inspired by the rural farm life around us in Maine and from our time in Iowa. I pictured quiet sun filled afternoons, baby animals and farmers markets. The all over design brings frolicking animals together amidst waving sunflowers, corn stalks and wheat.
The flower framed animal vignettes were carefully positioned to make them ideal for fussy cutting.
The plucky chicken print is a wonderful final tribute to Red Rooster brand. I'll be merging into the company's P&B Textiles brand. Chickens has become emblematic flock of the backyard farmer, their escapades make me laugh.
Several of the prints are a nod to vintage designs, in particular my favorite tiny animal toss. If you look carefully you'll find teeny grasshoppers and bees.
Mouthwatering spring strawberries are an especially cheery addition to the collection. I'm really happy with the way the repeat turned out. A joy to paint I'd love to explore making more detailed botanicals.
A variety of waving grass is the perfect rest pattern, you can almost hear the crickets song. In one version they had removed my curling leaves, I'm so glad they were put back in.
My penned landscape sketch is an updated toile. Fluid and whimisical it creates the landscape backdrop. Filling out the line is a traditional ticking stripe, insuring your finished quit will induce a peaceful nights sleep.
My Farm Animal Transfer set is the perfect hand embroidery companion to the fabric. It offers six 7" x 8" hot iron transfers. The transfers can be used multiple times and the designs would make great center blocks and coordinated pillows.
If you use an embroidery machine please check out my companion OESD Country Animal collection. It offers both multiple and single colored designs. The collection will allow you to incorporate machine embroidered animals with the fabric.
I sincerely hope these fabrics inspire you, I can't wait to see what you stitch, please tag me #heidiboydcrafts. Stay tuned I share a free Country Days tummy time baby quilt design soon.
